Parkland Golf team cruises to M-WAC Title, Four players earn All-Conference honors

The Parkland College Golf Team put some impressive scores Monday as they cruised to the M-WAC Golf Title. Parkland hosted the four-team Ryder Cup style event at the Champaign Country Club under perfect sunny and warm conditions. 

After the opening 9 holes of scramble, PC found itself tied with ICC and just a stroke ahead of Lewis and Clark. After the following nine holes of foursome play, PC saw their lead at two strokes over ICC and five over the Blazers.

It was during the next nine holes of Better Ball play, where the Cobras showed their dominanace as all three twosomes were under par and the PC lead was extended to 8 strokes. The Cobras were equally dominant over the final nine holes as they added eight more strokes to their final victory margin.

Parkland finished at 349, ICC was 2nd at 365, Lewis and Clark 3rd with 371, and Lincoln a distant 4th at 416. In addition to the team's success, four individuals earned All-Conference recognition. Andreas Nielsen was the medalist for the second straight tournament as he carded a 71 over the final 18 holes. Tyler Woods was 2nd at 72, while Connor Poffinbarger and Jalen Hodges tied for 4th at 74. The only other player to earn the M-WAC was Lewis and Clark's Marc Berdala who finished 3rd at 73.
