February MWAC Basketball Update

Mid-West Athletic Conference Men's and Women's basketball stats update:

Week: February 15th-23rd  

Danville Area Community College

Danville Area Community College men's basketball team is currently 14-10 on the year and 3-4 in conference. The team faced John Wood Community College on February 18th, and won 80-75. They also took on Lincoln College on the 22nd, beating them 73-69.

Danville women's basketball team holds a 2-18 record so far this season, with a 0-6 record in the conference. On February 15th they were defeated by St. Mary of the Woods College, 98-76. The Jaguars faced John Wood Community College on the 18th, and fell short 75-65. For their third game of the week the team played Lincoln College on the 22nd and were defeated, 79-63.

Illinois Central College

Illinois Central College men's basketball team holds a 14-11 regular season record and a conference record of 4-3. The team was able to defeat Southeastern University on February 15th, 82-78. They played Lincoln Land Community College on the 18th and secured another win, 80-66. On the 22nd the Cougars lost to Parkland College, 80-65.

John Wood Community College

John Wood Community College men's basketball team's current record is 16-11 and they have a conference record of 4-3. The Blazers fell to Danville Area Community College on February 18th, 80-75. Later on the 20th they took on Rend Lake College and defeated them, 69-67. On February 22nd they added another win with a victory against Lincoln Land Community College, 70-56.

John Wood women's basketball team's current record is 13-13, and 5-2 in conference. The Blazers faced Danville Area Community College on February 18th and won, 75-65. The team played Rend Lake College on the 20th and won, 68-50. Later that week they took on Lincoln Land Community College and lost, 62-58.

Lewis and Clark Community College

Lewi and Clark women's basketball team holds a record of 16-6 and 4-2 in conference. On February 18th the Trailblazers took on Lincoln Land Community College defeating them, 54-48. Later that week they were able to defeat Parkland College, 87-85.

Lincoln College

Lincoln College men's basketball team's current record is 15-12, and 2-5 in conference. The team defeated Midwest Prep Elite Academy on February 15th, 96-71. The Lynx fell to Parkland College on the 18th, 87-79. Later on that week, they played Danville Area Community College and dropped their second game of the week, 73-69.

Lincoln College women's basketball team holds a record of 13-14 and 3-4 in conference. They faced Parkland College on February 18th and lost, 83-39. Later on February 22nd they faced Danville Area Community College and were able to defeat them, 79-63.

Lincoln Land Community College

Lincoln Land Community College men's basketball team has a current record of 14-11 and 1-6 in conference. On February 18th they fell short to Illinois Central College, 80-66. Later on the Loggers played John Wood Community College and experienced their second loss of the week, 70-56.

Lincoln Land women's basketball team's record is 14-11 so far this year and are 2-5 in conference. They faced Lewis and Clark Community College on February 18th and lost, 54-48. Later on the 22nd the Loggers played John Wood Community College and won, 62-58.

Parkland College

Parkland College men's basketball team has a current record of 22-3, and are 7-0 in conference. On February 18th they faced Lincoln College and won, 87-79. Later on the Cobras managed to defeat Illinois Central College, 80-65. The team is on a 16 game winning streak.

Parkland women's basketball team's current record is 19-6 and are 6-1 in conference. They faced Illinois Central College on February 15th and lost, 81-63. Later on the 18th they played Lincoln College and won by a score of 83-39. The Cobras took their second loss of the week to Lewis and Clark Community College on the 22nd, 87-85.

 

 NJCAA Rankings

The National Junior College Athletic Association released their latest Division II men's and women's basketball rankings. The latest poll was taken on February 22nd and the Mid-West Athletic Conference has two teams ranked. Both Parkland Colleges basketball teams have been ranked in the latest poll. Parkland's men's team moved up in the rankings from 9th to 6th. While their women's team moved from 11th to 12th.
