January MWAC Basketball Update

January 15th-25th Update:

Danville Area Community College

Danville Area Community College men's basketball team is currently 10-6 in this season so far. Last week the Jaguars played Olive-Harvey College at home on January 16th, beating them 80-62. They also took on Rose Hulman Institute of Technology's junior varsity team the 19th, defeating them 80-61.

Danville women's basketball team holds a 2-10 record so far. On January 16th they lost 78-44, to Millikin University's junior varsity team. The Jaguars faced Kennedy-King University on the 19th, defeating them 75-64.

 

Illinois Central College

Illinois Central College men's basketball team holds a 9-8 record heading into the conference season. On January 17th the Cougars lost a close match against Illinois Wesleyan University, 75-74.

 

John Wood Community College

John Wood Community College men's basketball team currently has a record of 11-8. The Blazers faced Robert-Morris University on January 18th, defeating them 80-60. On the 21st they took on Culver-Stockton College's junior varsity team and won 99-53.The John Wood women's basketball team record currently stands at 7-10. The team has not yet played a conference game so far this season. The Blazers faced Hannibal-LaGrange University's junior varsity on January 18th, beating them 105-27. Later that week they took on Carl Sandburg beating them 57-53.

 

Lewis and Clark Community College

Lewi and Clark women's basketball team holds a record of 12-3 and 0-0 in conference. On January 16th the Trailblazers took on Lakeland Community College, defeating them 65-56. Later that week they fell short to Shawnee Community College, 80-63.

 

Lincoln College

Lincoln College men's basketball team has a record of 11-7. The team has yet to play their first conference game. The Lynx fell to St. Louis Community College on January 18th, 75-63. Later on that week they played Black-Hawk College and won 74-69.

Lincoln College women's basketball team holds a record of 9-8 and 0-0 in conference. They faced Millikin University's junior varsity team and were able to defeat them 93-70.

 

Lincoln Land Community College

Lincoln Land Community College men's basketball team has a current record of 13-4. On January 16th they defeated Harry S. Truman College, 92-40. Later on the 21st the  

Loggers were able to defeat Robert-Morris University at Springfield, 80-52. The team managed to pull out another win on the 23rd against MacMurrary College, 77-61.

Lincoln Land women's basketball team has an 11-6 overall record. They took on Lindenwood University at Belleville on January 18th, defeating them 79-53. Later on the 21st the Loggers faced Illinois Central College and fell short, losing 70-57.

 

Parkland College

Parkland College men's basketball team has a current record of 13-4. On January 16th they face Rend Lake College and won 77-69. The Cobras also faced Olivet Nazarene's junior varsity team, defeating them 79-78.

Parkland women's basketball team has a record of 12-4. They played Kankakee Community College on January 16th, beating them 71-66. The next day they face Malcolm X College winning again 76-53. Later on the 19th the Cobras played Greenville College's junior varsity team, winning their third game in a row, 85-40.

 

NJCAA Rankings

The National Junior College Athletic Association released their latest Division II men's and women's basketball rankings. The latest poll was taken on January 24th and the Mid-West Athletic Conference has two teams ranked and one team receiving other votes. Both of the Parkland basketball teams were ranked in the latest poll. Parkland's men's team moved up in the rankings from 14th to 12th. While their women's team also moved up in the rankings from 13th to 11th. Lincoln Land Community College men's team is receiving other votes in latest rankings as well.
