John Wood's Johnson and Parkland's Wascher Named Player of the Year

The Midwest Athletic Conference recently named its Male and Female Players of the Year. 

Hannah Wascher (Rantoul HS) helped Parkland College to a National Runner-Up finish while leading teh Cobras to their best season in school history.  Parkland College finished a record breaking 35-2 losing a heartbreaking 66-64 decision in the title game.  Washer was named the NJCAA D-2 Women's Basketball Player of the Year to go along with her 1st All-American, All-Region, and All-MWAC recognition.  Washer also earned Player of the Year in the MWAC and the Region as well as being named to the All-Tournament team for two consecutive seasons.  Washer finished second in the nation in Field Goal percentage and was sixth in rebounds per game.  She will continue her playing career next year for former Cobra Rick Stein at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN.  Wascher was also named the Co-Female Athlete of the Year at Parkland College.

Jordan Johnson (Waukegan HS) helped lead the John Wood Trailblazers to a NJCAA D-2 National Runner-Up finish capping a tremendous career.  Johson was voted the MWAC Conference and Region 24 Player of the Year and earned a spot on the NJCAA D-2 All-American First Team.  Johnson averaged 15.3 ppg, 6.1 apg, and 3.9 rbg while shooting 40% from the field and 35% from three.  Johnson is currently the Trailblazer career leader in assists and free throws made.  He stands fifth all-time in scoring.  Johnson will continue his career at D-1 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
