Mid-West Athletic Conference Baseball/Softball Season Update

Week: March 18th-31st

Danville Area Community College:

Danville's baseball team currently stands 11-6 in their regular season and 5-3 in conference. On March 24th the Jaguars played a double header against Lincoln Land Community College and lost both games, 10-3 and 7-2. Later on the 26th the team played Lincoln Land Community College again in another double header, winning the first game 3-2 and losing the second game 2-1. On the 28th they successfully defeated Lincoln Trail, 4-3.

Danville's softball team is currently 15-5 in their regular season and 6-2 in conference so far. On March 21st the team swept Sauk Valley Community College in a double header winning, 5-4 and 5-4. Later on the 25th they split in a double header against Lincoln College, losing the first game 6-2 and wining the second 3-1. The next day they swept Lincoln College in another double header, winning 12-2 and 9-8. On March 29th the Jaguars took on Kankakee Community College in a double header and split, winning the first game 3-2 and losing the second game 11-3.

Heartland Community College:

Heartland's baseball team is currently 15-5 so far this season with a conference record of 5-3. The team took on Illinois Wesleyan University on March 21st and won, 5-4. On the 24th they had a double header against John Wood Community College and defeated them both games, 12-4 and 5-4. Later on March 28th they played had another double header against John Wood Community College and defeated them again, 7-5 and 10-4. The next day the team won their 6th game in a row against Illinois Wesleyan University, 5-2.

Heartland's softball team has a current record of 14-9 with a conference record of 5-3. On March 23rd the team split with Rock Valley in a double header, winning the first game 11-3 and losing the second 11-2. On the 25th they swept Lincoln Land Community College in a double header winning both games, 7-6 and 11-3. The next day they split with Lincoln Land Community College, winning the first game 7-5 and losing the second game 13-7.

Illinois Central College:

ICC's current record is 8-10 and 1-3 in conference. The team face Eureka College's junior varsity team on March 21st and won 8-1. The next day the Cougars gave up a loss to Lake Land, 11-8. On the 24th they faced Black Hawk-Moline in a double header and were unsuccessful both games losing, 5-0 and 4-0. Later on March 26th they were able to defeat Frontier in a double header, 13-3 and 5-4.

John Wood Community College:

John Wood's baseball team has a record of 9-9 and 2-6 in conference. The team played Heartland Community College in a double header on March 24th, but were unsuccessful both games losing to the Hawks, 12-4 and 5-4. Later on the 28th the Blazers faced Heartland Community College in another double header and experienced two more loses to the Hawks, 7-5 and 10-4.

John Wood's softball team has a current record of 2-14 and are 2-4 in conference. On March 22nd the team faced Illinois Central College in a double header, but could not get the job done and lost both games to ICC, 8-1 and 5-4. Later on March 24th the Blazers took on Parkland College in a double header and lost both games, 3-1 and 10-0. They faced Parkland College again on March 28th and split the double header, winning the first game 6-3 and losing the second 7-5.

Lewis & Clark Community College:

Lewis and Clark's baseball team is currently 4-13 in their regular season and 3-5 in conference. The Trailblazers took on Parkland College in a double header on March 24th, but were unsuccessful in both games losing 9-4 and 7-6. On March 28th they faced Parkland College in another double header and fell short to them again, losing 12-1 and 10-0.  

Lewis and Clark's softball team is currently 4-14 and 2-6 in conference so far this season. On March 22nd the team took on St. Louis in a double header, but could not get the job done and lost both games to them, 15-1 and 17-3. Later on the 24th the Trailblazers faced Spoon River College in a double header and split, winning the first game 3-2 and losing the second game 21-6. They faced Spoon River in another double header on March 26th, but failed to defeat them both games losing 6-5 and 7-6.

Lincoln College:

Lincoln's baseball team is currently 11-6 and 4-4 in conference so far this season. The team face Quincy University's junior varsity team on March 23rd, but failed to defeat them 14-5. Later on March 25th the Lynx faced Spoon River College in a double header and won both games, 11-1 and 6-2. The following day they played Spoon River College in another double header, but were unsuccessful both games, losing 4-0 and 10-0.

Lincoln's softball team has an overall record of 11-6 and 2-4 in conference so far this season. On March 22nd the Lynx faced off in a double header against Carl Sandburg and won both games, 25-3 and 9-3. Later on the 25th the team played Danville Area Community College in a double header and split with them, winning the first game 6-2 and losing the second game 3-1. The next day they faced Danville Area Community College in another double header, but unfortunately could not get the job done either game and lost 12-2 and 9-8.

Lincoln Land Community College:

Lincoln Land's baseball team is currently 16-3 and 6-2 in conference so far this season. The Loggers faced Danville Area Community College in a double header on March 24th and were successful both games, winning 10-3 and 7-2. Later on the 26th they played Danville Area Community College in another double header this time splitting with the Jaguars, losing the first game 3-2 and winning the second game 2-1.

Lincoln Land's softball team has a current record of 9-13 and 4-4 in conference. On March 22nd the Loggers took on Mineral Area in a double header and won both games, 4-3 and 9-0. Later on the 25th the team faced Heartland Community College in a double header and were unsuccessful in both games, losing 7-6 and 11-3. The following day they played Heartland Community College in another double header this time splitting with the Hawks, losing the first game 7-5 and winning the second game 13-7.

Parkland College:

Parkland's baseball team has a record of 18-4 and 4-0 in conference so far this season. The Cobras took on Lewis and Clark Community College in a double header on March 24th and carried out both wins, 9-4 and 7-6. Later on the 28th they faced Lewis and Clark Community College in another double header and gained another two wins from the Trailblazers, 12-1 and 10-0.

Parkland's softball team is currently 15-3 and 5-3 in conference so far. They took on John Wood Community College on March 24th in a double header and gained two wins, 3-1 and 10-0. Later on the 28th the Cobras faced John Wood Community College again in another double header and split with the Blazers, Losing the first game 6-3 and winning the second game 7-5.

Spoon River College:

Spoon River's baseball team is currently 2-17 and 2-6 in conference. The Snappers took on Carl Sandburg on March 22nd, but were unsuccessful losing 2-1. The next day the team faced Knox College and lost again 10-1. Later on march 25th they played a double header against Lincoln College, but could not get the job done losing both games, 11-1 and 6-2. The following day they faced Lincoln College again this timing they won both games, 4-0 and 10-0.

Spoon River's softball team has a current record of 18-18 and 4-4 in conference. On March 21st the Snappers faced Black Hawk-Moline in a double header and accomplished two wins, 11-7 and 15-5. Later on the 24th they faced Lewis and Clark Community College in a double header and split with the Trailblazers, losing the first game 3-2 and winning the second game 21-6. The team faced Lewis and Clark Community College again in another double header on March 26th, this time carrying out two wins against the Trailblazers, 6-5 and 7-6. The Snappers played Illinois Central College on the 28th in a double header and split with the Cougars, losing the first game 10-1 and winning the second game 10-5.

NJCAA Rankings:

Four Mid-West Athletic Conference teams are currently ranked in the NJCAA Division II Poll for March 28th. Both Parkland Colleges baseball and softball team are ranked in the latest poll. Parklands baseball team is ranked 7th, while the softball team is ranked 6th. Heartland Community College's softball team is ranked in the 15th spot, while their baseball team is receiving other votes. Lincoln Land Community College's baseball team is currently ranked right underneath Parklands team in the 8th spot.
