GALESBURG — Brett Macak (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) delivered a walk-off sacrifice fly, and Chase Mason (Washington, Ill./Washington) had a five-hit game as the Carl Sandburg College baseball team rallied late to beat Illinois Central 11-10 in a nine-inning contest Thursday at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moments
• Down 10-9 in the eighth, Mason led off the inning with his fifth hit of the game, a home run to left field on a 1-2 pitch, to knot the score.
Logan Van Heuklon (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) opened the bottom of the ninth with a single to right and stole second. With first base open, the Cougars chose to intentionally walk Jack Shields (Peoria Heights, Ill./Notre Dame). Van Heuklon and pinch-runner TJ Ulfig moved up to second and third on an error by the ICC catcher, which set up Macak bringing Van Heuklon in with the game-winner on a sac fly to center.

Sandburg Standout
Mason finished 5 for 5 out of the leadoff spot and came around to score each time. He singled in the first, homered in the third, doubled to left in the fifth, singled in the sixth and homered again in the eighth. In addition to collecting 12 total bases in the game, the Chargers shortstop also swiped a pair of bags.

Other Top Chargers
• Van Heuklon — 2 for 4, walk, run, two RBIs
Mitch Ball (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) — home run, two RBIs
Logan Korte (Metropolis, Ill./Massac County) — solo home run

KISHWAUKEE GAMES SATURDAY MOVED TO SANDBURG
The Chargers' Arrowhead Conference doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at Kishwaukee has been moved to Sandburg's home field. Sandburg's magic number to clinch the conference championship is one. One Chargers victory (or a loss by Black Hawk in one of the Braves' remaining conference games) would clinch the eighth conference title in program history. Sandburg can win the title outright with a sweep Saturday.
