Pats Hold On To Defeat Lincoln Land 7-6

The College of Central Florida Patriots (15-12) defeated Lincoln Land Community College Loggers (5-3) of Springfield, Illinois 7-6 on Tuesday afternoon. The scoring started in the fourth inning when a Carson Bayne double knocked in Edrick Felix who had doubled earlier in the inning. Jared Evans then doubled home Bayne to increase the Pat's lead to 2-0. The Loggers got within a run at 2-1 when an Adam Passmore sacrifice fly scored Drew Ezard. CF scored three runs in the sixth inning without a hit. Three walks, two hit batters and a sacrifice fly by David Pereira gave the Pats a 5-1 lead. The four-run lead didn't last long as the Loggers scored three runs of their own in the top of the seventh when Jayden Myren tagged Avery Love for a three-run home run. Nicholas Calero's sacrifice fly scored Jackson Taylor and a wild pitch scored another run as the Pats upped the lead to 7-4 in the seventh. Luke Kracik led off the top of the ninth inning with a home run for Lincoln Land to get the Loggers within two runs. A walk, two strikeouts and a double by Myren made the score 7-6. Patriots' relief pitcher Ty Moody replaced Love and got the final out of the game with the tying run standing on third base for his first save of the season.

Connor Godwin (1-2) earned the win with his best performance of the season. Godwin tossed four shutout innings allowing only three hits and striking out eight batters.
