Champaign, Ill., Sept. 4, 2021 - The Elgin Community College women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Parkland College on Saturday.

Joana Mercado had another strong showing in the net, as she registered 10 saves on the day.

Katie Kowal scored the solo Elgin goal of the game, and first of the season, in the 80th minute.

The team combined for 10 shots, including eight on goal to wrap up play.

The Spartans open home play against Rock Valley on Sept. 8 at 4 p.m.
