NIACC wins pair at Babe Howard Juco Classic
MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The NIACC baseball team won a pair of games Saturday at the Babe Howard Juco Classic.
NIACC (5-1 overall) topped Parkland College 2-1 and claimed a 9-3 victory over Lewis and Clark CC.
In the game against Parkland College, the Trojans plated their two runs in the fifth inning. Cody Kelly drove in a run with a triple and Ike Mezzenga then plated Kelly.
Connor Wietgrefe (1-0) gained the win for the Trojans on the mound in relief. Wietgrefe, who relieved starter Jacob Mrosko, pitched three innings allowing one run with one strikeout and one walk.
In the win over Lewis and Clark CC, NIACC's Thomas Gross allowed one run in five innings of work with nine strikeouts.
Also for the Trojans, Kelly was 2 for 2, Cayden Nicoletto was 2 for 3, Cole Fuecker was 2 for 4 and Nick Linarte was 2 for 3 with a double.
NIACC wraps up the Babe Howard Juco Classic on Sunday with a single game against Pearl River CC at 10 a.m.
