MARQUES, WARRIORS TOP JOHN WOOD 4-0

Ottumwa, IA – Pablo Marques (João Pessoa, Brazil/Colégio Meta) recorded his second consecutive hat trick to lift the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team to a 4-0 victory over John Wood Community College (IL) on the final day of the Indian Hills Classic Sunday. The Warriors completed the weekend 2-0 and improve to 2-1-1 on the year.

Marques was brilliant again for the Warriors as the sophomore recorded two second half goals to cap off his second hat trick in three days. Marques' first tally came in the seventh minute after heading home a deflection from Toya Oda's (Kanazawa, Japan/Kaishikokusai) strike. Indian Hills took a 1-0 lead into halftime before Marques doubled the Warrior lead in the 54th minute on a penalty kick.

Indian Hills' third goal of the afternoon came from the foot of Denis German Barcojo (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Comercial N 41) as a cross from Oda connected with Fabio Lozano (Modelia, Colombia/Formarte) who in turn found Barcojo for the 3-0 lead. Lozano, an immediate spark off the bench, recorded his second assist of the day in the 73rd minute with a cross to Marques for the fourth and final goal.

Freshman Kosei Hayashi (Kizugawa, Japan/Kumiyama) recorded his first career victory and shutout after blanking the Blazers.

Overall, the Warriors outshot John Wood 23-1 on the day, including 11 on net.

Marques' six goals on the year currently lead the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer leaderboard while his 12 points rank second.

Next up for Indian Hills is a trip to Southeastern Community College on Sept. 1 for a 3:00 PM match at the Burlington Rec Plex.
