Parkland's Wascher, Litchfield Named to 1st Team NJCAA All-American Team

Sophomores Hannah Wascher (Rantoul) and Laura Litchfield (Champaign Central) have been selected 1st Team All-American's by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

The pair led the Cobras to a record setting (35-2) season and a National Runner-Up finish at the NJCAA D-2 Women's Basketball Tournament. Both players were selected to the All-Tournament team at Nationals, with Wascher being recognized for the second straight season.

Wascher, who was earlier named the M-WAC and Region 24 Player of the Year, averaged a double-double this season scoring at a 17.7 points per game clip and pulling down 10.3 rebounds a game. She shot 60.4% from the field which was the second highest field goal percentage in the NJCAA D-2.  She also blocked nearly two shots per contest.

Litchfield, who transferred to Parkland after one year at Southwestern Illinois, was the glue for the Cobras as she averaged 13.0 points and 5. 2 rebounds per game for Parkland. She also dished out 4.9 assists and had 2.1 steals per game. Laura was a First Team All-MWAC and All-Region performer as well.

The two are the first pair of 1st Team All-Americans in Cobra Women's Basketball history. Hannah Ohl was the last Cobra First Team Basketball All-American back in 2010-11.
