Indian Hills Settles for Tie with Parkland

WSOC at Parkland

Champaign, Illinois -- A late goal by Indian Hills' Charlyann Pizzarello tied the score at 3-all and it stayed that way through two overtime periods as the Warriors and Parkland played to a 3-3 draw on Thursday.

Pizzarello's 5th goal of the season came with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.  Parkland had taken a 3-2 lead about eight minutes before the Pizzarello goal.

Megan McElmeel got IHCC even earlier in the second half with her 8th goal, assisted by Taylor Hiatt.  Hiatt had the Warriors' lone goal of the opening half, scoring in the 14th minute for the game's first goal, assisted by Molly Kellar.  Parkland answered with back-to-back goals and took a 2-1 lead into intermission.  Laura Hallissey had an assist on the Pizzarello score and then neither team could break through in OT.

The three goal scorers for Indian Hills in this game -- Hiatt, McElmeel and Pizzarello -- also accounted for the three IHCC goals in their previous contest, a win against Iowa Lakes.

IHCC keeper Emily Sands stopped six shots on goal.

The tie was the second of the year for Indian Hills and leaves their record at 9-2-2.
