RedTail Volleyball Goes 2-2 at DMACC Invite

BOONE–The RedTails went 2-2 at the DMACC Invitational after winning against Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) and Glen Oaks Community College and losing against Iowa Central Community College and Heartland Community College on October 1-2.



The RedTails played RCTC first and swept the match 3-0. The RedTails won the first set 25-21. The second set went to the RedTails winning 25-16. The third set was close, but the RedTails prevailed winning 25-23. Sophomore Hailey Eckerman played an impressive game getting eight kills. 

 

The RedTails faced off against Iowa Central next falling 0-3. It was a tough match, the RedTails lost the first set 16-25, the second set 14-25 and the third set 16-25. 

 

Next the RedTails faced off against Heartland Community College losing 0-3. It was another tough match for the RedTails losing the first set 22-25, the second set 21-25, and the third set 25-27. 

 

The final match for the RedTails was against Glen Oaks Community College and they were able to finish the tournament with a win of 3-0. The first set was won 25-19. The RedTails played a dominant second set winning 25-13. The third and final set was won by the RedTails 25-20.

 

"We went 2-2 this weekend with a couple of the top teams in the nation," says assistant coach Molly Schmansky. "Even though we dropped two matches, we continue to learn and grow from our losses. We are feeling confident going into October that we will be peaking at the right time!"

 

The RedTails will play again on October 6 at Iowa Lakes Community College.
