N-Trip wins first-ever game at Nationals

Niagara County Community College won its first-ever National-Tournament game and finished among the top 10 in the country at this past week's NJCAA Division II Tournament in Port Huron, Michigan. The Thunderwolves, who were seeded ninth, finished with an overall record of 29-5.

No. 8 North Central Missouri 75, No. 9 Niagara CCC 50

The Thunderwolves had their worst shooting performance of the season at the wrong time, making just 28 percent of their attempts including 2-of-22 from the 3-point line. NCCC freshman Gabrielle McDuffie was the only player in double figures as she had 23 points and eight rebounds.

No. 9 Niagara CCC 72, No. 10 Dakota College at Bottineau 70 (OT)

McDuffie converted an old fashioned three-point play with three seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime where the Thunderwolves held off the hot-shooting Jacks. McDuffie finished with 25 points, while classmate Aichata Ballo had 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists and freshman Makayla McCorker notched 11 points and 17 rebounds off the bench.

No. 4 Illinois Central 88, No. 9 Niagara CCC 58

McDuffie had 15 points and six rebounds, but the T-Wolves couldn't keep up with the perennial Midwest power. Sophomore Alaina Forbes became the program's all-time leading scorer in the setback, netting nine points to finish with a total of 1,032 points. The previous mark was held by Michelle Milleville-Lyman (1,029 points).
