Katie McLean (LLCC) and Tyler Paulsen (Parkland) Named 2018 M-WAC Athletes of the Year
Lincoln Land's Katie McLean was selected as Region 24 Softball Player of the Year for the second year in a row. She was named to the All-Region Team and Region 24 All-Tournament Team. McLean was 1st Team All-Conference and M-WAC Player of the Year. She was named 2nd Team All-American in both 2017 and 2018. She helped the Loggers to finish 9th at the NJCAA D-2 National Championship. She led the Loggers with 89 hits, 22 doubles and 6 home runs (3 in 3 games at Nationals). McLean collected 45 RBIs with a .498 on base percentage. She also posted a .710 slugging percentage and an impressive .461 batting average.
Katie McLean will attend NCAA D-1 University of Evansville next year on a softball scholarship.
Parkland's Tyler Paulsen was named the M-WAC and Region 24 Player of the Year. Paulsen was selected the Most Valuable Player at the Region 24 Tournament as he went 12-27 with 4 home runs and 11 RBI. Paulsen was recently named a 2nd Team All-American by the NJCAA. He helped lead the Cobras to a 51-16-1 record and a National Runner-Up finish at the NJCAA D-2 World Series. Paulsen also led the Cobras with 16 home runs, 23 doubles, and a team high .721 slugging percentage and was second in runs batted in with 64.
Tyler Paulsen signed to play next year at NCAA D-2 Faulkner University.
